Taupo

Taupo is one hour’s southward drive away from Rotorua, New Zealand, and views along the road are fascinating and enchanting. Lake Taupo, at the north coast of Taupo, takes up a vast area and is equipped with beautiful views. Taupo is a well-known area of fishing rainbow trouts. Travelers can rent a boat to fish in the lack or visit the beautiful scenery. Apart from fishing, travelers can also take a helicopter to overlook the city. One of the highest mountains in North Island is Mount Ruapehu in the central Taupo, a volcano that is still active. When the volcano erupts, the volcanic ash spews from the mountain and roars into the sky, and then the sky gets smoggy. Huka Falls, located at the middle and lower reaches of Wairakei River, is as magnificent as galloping horses.

The fascinating Lake Taupo was once an enormous fiery volcano. The last eruption was in the year 181 AD and it was powerful enough to change the sky in Europe and even in China. As the legend of the Maori goes, the lake is the action center of fishes from Maui Island (in South Island, New Zealand). The countryside by Lake Taupo is a perfect place for travelers who love fishing rainbow trouts, skiing in Mount Ruapehu and exploring the local geothermal phenomenon. Popular attractions in Taupo include visiting Huka Falls, geothermal areas, prawn farms and lakes and exploring Michael's Rock Reef in kayaks. Most residences in Taupo can lead to natural hot springs.

Lake Taupo is geographically located in the center of volcanic region in North Island and is globally known as a fishing resort. In Taupo lies the famous Huka Falls, the biggest freshwater lake in New Zealand and behind the falls lies Tangariro.

Lake Taupo is as big as Singapore. In summer, it, clean and quiet, seems like the most tranquil place in New Zealand, but don’t fooled by its quite appearance. It is actually a volcanic lake. The volcanic eruption in one year was so powerful that the top of the volcano was "blown away” and the volcanic ash even escaped to China, which is far away.

The area is one of few places that wild trouts will incubate their eggs, and is also the biggest trout fishing center in the world. You can invite a tour guide to lead you to fishing rainbow trouts or brown trouts, or even learning skills of fly fishing. As for the "harvests” of you diligent work, many local restaurants or hotels are willing to cook for you.

As one of the most popular scenic spots in New Zealand, Huka Falls is the best place for taking photos. When the water falls, the sound is like that of thundering, which is magnificent. The volume of water that falls from the cliff in every second reaches 220,000 liters, so it is best to take a jet boat to go there.

There are some other scenic spots, including the famous Craters of the Moon where you can enjoy the wonderful views that can only be seen on the moon, including geysers, mud pits and steaming vent. You can also experience water sports, such as jet boating, paragliding, fishing, swimming, kayaking, yachting and seaplane sightseeing.
